MEMORY SKILLS

Your brain is a  library that can hold on to lots of information than you can think of. The stored information is always there, but it is in a form of messy pile, which makes it harder to remember if you need some information from your brain. Concentration requires you to direct your efforts towards the activity or subject at hand. Once things are stored in the memory it can be accessed easily, however, we might have difficulty in recalling it.

Always use your imagination and association when you are learning. Make links of new material with the previous material learned earlier or the information that you know already.  

Imagine, draw a mental map, a sketch in your mind for the topic that you reading or learning.

Associating things will help in developing the mental map and strengthen the link between the similar topics for you to comprehend clearly.

Question yourself about the topic and think up of answers. You will notice when you are using these two techniques; imagining and associating, the information comes back to you quickly.

Revise the information or topic that you learnt at least four to five times after different intervals, to store the information in the long term memory.

  • Begin with the revision right after you learnt.
  • A day after you learnt the topic.
  • Revise again a week after.
  • After a month revise the topic again.

EDUCATION MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Education is the foundation stone, laid to build a building of knowledge and experiences. It defines who we are, and is not restricted to books, or to what we learn in schools or colleges. Gaining education is an ongoing process, same like knowledge, continued throughout our life. In today’s world Education is as important as mere breathing, without which you cannot survive.

Education enlightens us, gives us the capability to understand, broadens our perspectives  gives us the ability to look beyond a certain point. It helps us in exploring ourselves, exploring our potentials, making us aware of our interests, gives confidence  self respect, builds self esteem, and gives us the power to understand the differences of right and wrong, teaches us to respect the differences of opinions,  makes us learn the value of patience, and the list of its significance goes on. Education is the integral part of our lives.

The first verses of the Quran began with the word:

“Read. Read in the name of thy Lord who created; [He] created the human being from blood clot. Read in the name of thy Lord who taught by the pen: [He] taught the human being what he did not know.” (96: 1-5).

Education is not limited to getting good marks, it means that you learn new things, and increase your knowledge, to solve the problems of everyday life in a much better manner, to have a wide vision towards life, and to become a better individual of a responsible society. Education helps you in knowing, what your rights are, and how you can exercise them, guides you in the right direction, develops the ability to understand the meaning of your destiny, gives you the capability to think, and analyze, opens our minds to experiences, make us motivated to gain more knowledge beyond text books, gives you awareness of your potentials and how to explore them. A time comes when you acknowledge its benefits in practical life, and what ever that you learned from your schools, colleges, and universities is of great value. You feel confident to look for earning a livelihood, and you start utilizing what you learned.

Education is freedom to think, to speak, to hear, and to see. Enriches our life, so that we can enhance ourselves as individuals.

Education is a fundamental human right and essential for the exercise of all other human rights. It promotes individual freedom and empowerment and yields important development benefits. Yet millions of children and adults remain deprived of educational opportunities, many as a result of poverty.—-UNESCO.

 

CONSCIOUS PARENT

Conscious parenting means to engage actively and consciously in all the aspects of parenting. Conscious parenting involves the “being” aspects of life unlike the “doing” aspects. It emphasis growth, truth and presence, and is an ongoing journey with lots of commitment.

Conscious parenting is not the traditional way of parenting, conscious parenting is a more engaging way of connecting with your child, acceptance, understanding, building confidence, thus developing a positive experience. Freedom for expressing ones feeling, providing empathy, guiding through examples, self-regulatory behavior, and developing a bond of parent child relationship.

Parenting is a difficult task, when we ourselves are snowed with lots of work, whether its our work or other tasks at hand. Parenting in itself is an art, a way of learning for ourselves, and certainly cannot be learned through books. The way everyone is different, in the same manner are the children, each having their own demands, their own nature.

It is typical of parents to punish the child for behaviors that are not accordance to them, without noticing and becoming conscious that this will reinforce the wrong behavior, and it strongly emphasizes conditional love. As a parent we must understand that disciplining cannot be done by putting conditions. We often put conditions, give threats for undesirable behavior, give punishments. Parents must learn and practice not to issue threats and the likes, rather raise independent, self-motivated children, those who are not driven by threats and punishments rather raised with conscious love, understanding, and caring. Knowing what their limits are and have an in-depth knowledge of their own personalities, understanding the reasons behind their own emotions, and of their child. Conscious parents do not focus on the problems, they try to find out the causes or reasons of certain behavior, and resolve them, without been judgmental.

While parenting, it is important that both the parents are on the same page of parenting. If the parents have different views of parenting a child, it creates conflict, and the child become confuse, as to what he/she should follow or listen too, or for that matter behave. The parents must discuss their ideas of parenting, how to approach a certain problem at hand, how to resolve a conflict, what approaches they think are conscious and reflects in the child.

Demanding some behavior from your child, without exercising it yourself is unjust. Parents are the role model, if you want your child to be disciplined, loving  understanding, helpful, independent, you certainly have to exercise everything yourself, as children are our mirror. children follow more the unspeakable language and learn more from it, than words that are said. Meaning of the actions and the way you express yourself speaks volume, and the child learn all of these without you consciously telling them. It is always wise to take a moment to think and analyze your anger, which is directed to your child, and you will surely calm yourself, when you try to understand the underlying cause of it.

  THE LESSONS OF LIFE

As we age, we all as human beings, learn things through our own experiences, and shared experiences. As we know that no one is perfect, and we make mistakes, only to learn from them, and try not to commit the same mistake again. No one can say that, they didn’t make mistake in their life, it is just part of growing up, getting more mature and experienced.

As we grow up we become aware that, our actions have consequences for which we are accountable to ourselves. We become a little wiser, and start analyzing life and its happening more alertly, become more conscious of our decision making process. We try to chose things that are in accordance to our nature, and we tend to take risks too, knowing how much we can push ourselves, or how strong we are to face adversity.

Each mistake that we make, give us a new lesson, a new way of thinking and approaching ideas, and decisions in our life. We keep on struggling to find a path to our destiny, by trial and error process, approaching ideas and ways each time in a different manner, one that suits our need and fulfills our desire. Learning motivates us to be more resilient, inculcates a deeper understanding of the life we are living.

All of you must be knowing this saying:

“TIME TEACHES ALL”.

Stop for a moment and relax, breath in and out with ease, and take your time in doing so. Now think what you learned in life, all the time that you spent, going to school, college, having relationships  friends, your work.

  • Have you really learned anything that set the future course of your life?
  • What you changed by your experiences?
  • Or, all the learning that you did had gone waste?

Start your learning, and exploring yourself:

  • Everyone is leading his/her own life, so why not you stop worrying about others and start living yourself , for a start.
  • Know that whatever you choose for yourself, gives a much more higher satisfaction, as compared to, what others chose for you.
  • Start treating life as a friendly journey, where you indulge and play, and learn what has to offer you.
  • Never let go of the lesson an experience taught you, it is so much valuable for you, as you do not want to go through it again.
  • Learn to treat the life, the way you want to be treated. Whatever goes along comes along.
  • Life is too precious to waste, so learn to live inn the full manner and let others live to.
  • Give a chance to yourself to LIVE, by FORGIVING, it is the greatest thing that you can do for yourself. 
  • Keep on struggling on road to success, as nothing goes to waste. You will succeed sooner or later.
  • Decide whether you wan to be happy for the rest of your life or not, because it is your own attitude towards life, which will come to you.
  • Make peace with your past.
  • Stay true and loyal to yourself, don’t take help of cheating, to succeed, as you will fall if you do so.
  • Relationships are precious, give them, their time. You will know its worth, when it is not there.
  • Let go of things that are beyond repair, and cannot be changed, choose another path towards your goals.
  • Be thankful for whatever you have at present, don’t look back, nor forward.
  • Know one thing, that nothing can be achieved just by wishful thinking. You are supposed to take action in a positive manner, and set your horses on a favorable direction.
  • Be courageous, nothing will defeat you, not even your own fears.
  • Surround yourself with people who motivates you, keep you pushing and make you realize how special you are. Not the fake ones who are nothing and develop dependency in you.

LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES

Experiences makes us a better person, prepares us, so that we do not in any ways commit the same mistake again. Only fools fall for the same trap, the wise man always learn from their past.

Learn from your experiences, If you do not, you will be standing at the same place, over and over again. The first step is recognizing, that you have made a blunder. If you do not have acceptance, you will never rectify it. Always take responsibility of your actions, no one else is responsible for things that occur in your life.

Try to focus on your experiences and what it taught you. Always remind yourself, of what you have done earlier, whether it was a feeling of regret or you had a pleasant feeling.

Establish a fact that you have the power to change the course of things and events. Depend on your own ability to overcome the obstacles, and learn from your past.

Do not commit the same mistake, you will be more depressed than ever, knowing that you failed again.

Do not justify your failures, and take full responsibility. Shying away will lead you nowhere.

Analyse why you committed that mistake in the first place, what were the things that you shouldn’t have done. Analyze the WHY’s and WHAT’s, to figure out the causes behind your actions that led you to commit that mistake.

Do not let yourself stick to the same event for a long time, rather learn your lesson and move on. Life is much more fantastic and inviting, than to be brooding over split milk. If you know what I mean.

Develop your self confidence, be courageous, and modify your personality.

When you learn from your mistakes, and think that you will not go through the same thing again, means that you are considering that mistake as a stepping stone, and preparing yourself for the future endeavors.

Know that there will be no Success without Failures, the same way, there is no use of second chance when you haven’t learned from your past experiences.
